It is Finished Worship Celebration

Born Again Church in Uganda

The Born Again Church in Uganda is in actual sense a single unit, though with many parts but it remains a single distinct unit of the body of Christ. This is exactly what we experiences in this Worship celebration. Different members of the same body from different Born Again fellowships gathered to Worship God at Amazing Grace Christian Assemby Church this fateful ecening and Lo! what a joy it was.

In the midst of all the happenings, we had a question to ponder about.

Several songs came into our minds, do these songs really represent our heart felt submission to our God?

Even after reading scripture, do these songs really stand the test of scripture? or is it just someones emotions at play and good rhythm applied to it and we end up grooving to these songs without taking a closer look at them?

a good example is a song “Omwoyo wamukama namala aka wabeela wo enjawulo wakati muffe” Literally meaning if the spirit of the Lord dares to come down, there is a visible difference amidst us.

Do we mean the Songs we sing in our Worship set as the Born Again Church in Uganda?

It is finished

Now the question comes, where does the spirit of God dwell? Where would the Spirit of the Lord be coming from? When we read

“And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever, the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.” (John 14:16-17)

So what do we really mean by when the Holy spirit comes down or descends…?

And another huge debate was around the song create in me a clean heart or Lord, and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from thy presence oh Lord, take not thy Holy spirit from me.

Now i light of the fact that this is actually the psalmist writing out and its in the Bible. The question is, is it truth that is practical under the New testament? Since the spirit of God Dwells in us? what would necessitate God taking away his holy spirit from a believer? and what would a person from whom the holy spirit is taken do to restore the Holy spirit to himself?

These were quite disturbing questions which if not handles well, our Worship can never be in truth and in spirit as according to John 4:23 – 24

23But a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth, for the Father is seeking such as these to worship Him. 24 God is Spirit, and His worshipers must worship Him in spirit and in truth.”

It was quite a refreshing time where worshipers and lead worshipers get to look critically at what they do or what they can worship. Because short of it being in truth and in spirit, its something else and not the type of worship that the father wants.

In the Old Testament, the Holy Spirit would come and go. After God’s work had been accomplished on a specific occasion, or when people began to disobey the Lord, the Spirit would depart. He departed from Saul (1 Samuel 16:14). He departed from Samson (Judges 16:20). His filling, empowering presence was not permanent in any individual at that time; rather, the Spirit “rested on” or “came upon” individuals who had a divine task to accomplish. God worked differently with humanity before the coming of His Son, Jesus (John 3:16–18).

When God had an earthly temple, that was the place where His Spirit dwelt among His people (Exodus 25:8; 2 Chronicles 7:16). But when Jesus died, the veil in the temple was torn in two (Mark 15:38). God ushered in a new “temple” for His Spirit—the body and soul of every believer who receives Jesus as Lord and Savior (John 1:12; Romans 10:9–10).

Because He dwells in us, the Holy Spirit helps us pray (Romans 8:26). He comforts us (Psalm 34:18; 2 Corinthians 1:4). And He gives us words to say when we speak on His behalf (Luke 12:12). The Holy Spirit is everywhere that believers go. That’s one reason Christians must remain aware of their actions and attitudes. Because He lives in us, we are warned not to grieve or quench Him (Ephesians 4:30; 1 Thessalonians 5:19).

We take Him with us wherever we go, and He is a part of everything we are doing. We develop a healthy fear of the Lord when we live with the continual awareness that the Holy Spirit is watching and evaluating everything we think, say, and do (Job 28:28; Proverbs 9:10; 16:6).

Born Again Church in Uganda

Such discussions are healthy and required for the Born again Church in Uganda to engage in and to find agreeable solutions or at least get to know why someone X used such lyrics so that people get to know why they are doing what they are doing

But now we no longer have any reason to give as to why we ignorantly do things and that is why Sound of Worship exists as a ministry. To make sure there is critical thinking in as far as Worship to the Lord is concerned in the Body of Christ in Uganda (Born Again Church) and even beyond. We also go further to involve the other faiths as well to also do the same examination of their songs of Worship and adoration to the King of Kings if at all that is where they direct their worship to.
